• Girls Golf Team Wins TAPPS 5A Regional Championship

This week, the girls golf team won the TAPPS 5A Regional Championship at Gleannloch Pines Golf Club in Spring. Day-one play started under dark skies and 30-40 mph north winds and was eventually suspended due to rain and lightning. The girls round was shortened to nine holes for day one, and after completion of play, TCA held a 10-stroke lead over Ursuline and 11-strokes over Houston St. Agnes. Windy and cold conditions remained during the morning rounds of day two. The TCA girls fought hard to the end and eventually claimed a 14 stroke victory. Sophomore Courtney Dow claimed the individual title after a day-two score of 70. Freshman Macy Holliday took third-place overall after shooting 74, and junior Emma Kate Liu claimed sixth-place with a score of 82. All three players were named to the All-Region team. Senior Grace Sloan and junior Abby Selzer also contributed to the team victory. The girls will play in the state championship tournament on April 28-29 in Temple and will try and unseat five-time defending state champion Ursuline Academy.
