College Counseling
Forming a partnership with students and parents, the College Counseling Office assists students with personal and academic goals by devising a plan of action that includes course selection, career exploration, enrichment opportunities and college selection.
Course Selection
Each spring, the College Counseling Office meets with students and parents by class to review their four-year degree plans and course options for the next school year, making any necessary adjustments to accommodate a newly discovered passion or to capitalize on an area of academic strength.
Career Exploration
Students are provided with several opportunities to identify areas of interest and potential careers through tools and opportunities, including Scoir, guest speakers in various career fields through Interact Club and Senior Shadow Days.
Enrichment Opportunities
Using an online shared communication program, students are provided with current information about leadership training programs, special summer programs on college campuses and organizations offering specialized programs.
College Selection and Application
College exploration begins as students enter Upper School, and the support and guidance continue through a student’s four-year journey. Individual college planning meetings, College Day fairs, visiting college admission representatives and standardized test reviews help students and parents navigate the college selection process.
College Reps can schedule a virtual visit with students using SCOIR Visits.
