My work was made to reflect the everyday struggle with social media. Social media can entangle us and create a false reality of perfection. This rising expectation for beauty can be very harmful to individuals and stunts authentic growth. My goal is to shed light on the issue with a call to disconnect from the Internet and reconnect with each other. The Internet is full of hatred and idolizes an unattainable life, using an infinity of aimless scrolling for us to ignore problems and people as a whole. By constructing and layering several digital collages, I tried to overwhelm the viewer with excessive information to evoke the feelings we get while scrolling. We must wrestle with these new forms of self-expression and realize how damaging this much information can be.
