I seek for my art to represent the universal struggles of humanity, regardless of race, age or gender. The figures are built as homes and perches for the birds that surround them, much like we as humans are impressionable to the thoughts and ideas that swarm us. The flock of birds represents both internal and external pressures as birds are both destroyers—taking materials away—but also creators—building them back up. These birds portray how God shapes us through sanctification, and how that process can often be difficult or uncomfortable. The presence of the red birds signifies hope amid these trying times, an echo of the hope we have in heaven.
